Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials confirmed Saturday morning that a body has been found in the Farmington River in Canton.
Authorities were unable to identify the body at the scene and it will be transported to the chief Medical Examiners Office for a positive identification.
The body was discovered in the waters of the river about 3 miles downstream from where 33-year-old Rachel Greene of New Hartford was reported missing early last Saturday morning. The site was near the bridge on Town Bridge Road on the Canton/New Hartford line about one mile upstream from the Collinsville Dam.
A woman walking her dog reported seeing the body to Canton Police at around 9:30 a.m..
Canton Police and firefighters responded to the scene as well as officers from the state EnCon police department.
It is unclear if the body is that of 33-year-old New Hartford resident Rachel Greene who went missing last week in the river.
According to police, rafts entered the water about 3 miles upstream from where the body was discovered Saturday. The rafts entered near Satan's Kingdom.
