STORRS, CT (AP) -

The University of Connecticut's new budget includes money for more students and more faculty.

The school's Board of Trustees was scheduled to vote Wednesday on the $1.1 billion plan, an increase of more than 6 percent from the budget for last year.

The plan includes money to hire 110 new faculty members and anticipates a 9 percent increase in freshman enrollment for the 2013-14 school year.

The hirings are part of UConn's four-year plan to add almost 300 new faculty members.

The budget includes previously approved tuition and fee increases. The total costs will go up 4.4 percent to $23,496 for an in-state undergraduate and $42,444 for an out-of-state student.

The state's share of UConn's funding is $306.8 million for 2014, a 6.9 percent increase over last year.
