Conn. to launch long-term health care ad campaign

HARTFORD, CT (AP) -

Connecticut officials are launching an ad campaign to raise awareness about options for long-term health care and services.

The state is also trying to encourage more people to seek careers in the caregiving field.

An advertising campaign and related website are scheduled to be unveiled Thursday during a news conference at the Marriott Hartford Downtown. Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick Bremby and Office of Policy and Management Under Secretary Anne Foley will be on hand for the event.

In January, Bremby and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy released a plan to better meet long-term care needs for seniors and adults and with disabilities. Malloy also announced Connecticut would receive $72.8 billion in federal funds to expand such services and reduce expensive institutional care. The state has also committed $13 million.
