A Bristol man was killed when the car he was driving barreled through an intersection and into the Farmington Country Club.
Officers responded to the crash at 3:36 and discovered the car about five feet off the ground inside the building at 806 Farmington Ave. (Rt.4). The crash cut gas lines when the car struck the building and also took down a utility pole in the area.
The male driver of the vehicle, Thaddeus L. Singleton III of Bristol, was pronounced dead at the scene and a female passenger was extricated from the motor vehicle, and was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital with undetermined injuries.
The typically busy intersection was closed for a number of hours Sunday morning, but reopened around 10:30 a.m. police said.
The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad (NCMARS) is investigating the accident. Any witnesses to the accident or people with information concerning the accident are asked to call the Farmington Police Department at 860-675-2400.
