PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Two people were hospitalized in serious condition after they were struck by a vehicle south of the Paradise Valley Mall early Wednesday morning.
A man and a woman, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, were walking south against the traffic light on Paradise Village Parkway at Cactus Road in front of an IHOP restaurant when they were struck about 4:15 a.m., Phoenix Police Lt. David Laslavic said. He said the two might have life-threatening injuries.
The driver, who was on his way to work, stayed at the scene, Laslavic said. He said it appeared the driver tried to stop before hitting the two.
The intersection of Paradise Village Parkway and Cactus Road and west of Tatum Boulevard will be closed for an undetermined amount of time, Laslavic said.
No other information was immediately available and the investigation was continuing, Laslavic said.
