PD: 1 man dead after shooting in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in New Haven Wednesday afternoon as police continue to search for the suspect.

Police said the shooting occurred outside of the McConaughy Terrace public housing complex in the area of South Genesee Street around 12:30 p.m.

Brian Gibson, of New Haven, was shot and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The suspect, who had braided hair and wore a blue-and-white baseball cap, fled the scene on foot.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News that they saw the suspect running through the neighborhood after hearing shots fired.

"I was in the shower and I heard them (shots fired)," said Maryanne Rivera, of New Haven.
