Police in Bridgeport found themselves in a dangerous situation Saturday night when they responded to a club on Horace Street.
Police were called to the German Club at about 11 p.m. for reports of an armed fight inside.
When Officer Stacey Lyons responded, she was nearly hit by a fleeing white vehicle.
As officers made their way into the club, they encountered 18-year-old John George.
It was discovered that George had a revolver tucked in his waistband, according to police.
As officers attempted to restrain George, the suspect reportedly fired a shot.
It is believed that George attempted to shoot the officers who responded to the club.
George was taken into custody and charged with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
The promoter of the event, Robert Blackwell, was also taken into custody and charged with multiple counts of risk of injury to a minor.
During the investigation, police recovered a small-caliber loaded pistol.
