Bristol police arrested two people who are accused of taking $5,000 worth of cigarettes from truck making a delivery Monday morning.
An unidentified cigarette vender left his delivery truck unlocked while making a delivery at the Quick Mart on Stafford Avenue around 9:30 a.m.
When the vender returned to his truck, two men, who were later identified as 48-year-old LeRoy E. Mccoy and 53-year-old Alphonso G. Williams, were taking cases of cigarettes, police said.
Police said the suspects tried to run down the driver of the truck before fleeing the convenience store.
After a police broadcast, the vehicle was spotted on Interstate 84 in Manchester and the suspects were arrested.
Investigators recovered $5,000 worth of cigarettes.
Mccoy and Williams, who are both from Hartford, were charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, third-degree larceny and third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.
Both of them were being held on $100,000 bond and expected to be arraigned at Bristol Superior Court on July 9.
