Route 44 in Mansfield reopens after house fire

MANSFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Route 44 in Mansfield was closed for a brief period of time while emergency crews investigated a house fire Monday evening.

The fire closed Route 44 near Hunting Lodge Road for more than an hour.

The house fire has been knocked down quickly, but Route 44 remained closed while crews investigated.

Investigators determined the fire started in the area of a bathroom ceiling fan.

One resident at the home called 911 and was able to get out safely before being injured.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Route 44 reopened at about 6:15 p.m.
