Strip club plans up for discussion Monday night

Posted: Updated:

A strip club that could be coming to Windsor Locks is creating a controversy among residents.

Pool Table Magic, which would be located near Bradley International Airport and several motels, could potentially become the first strip club in Windsor Locks, but in its way are a bunch of angry residents.

Owner Mark Kulungian had no comment for Eyewitness News on Monday afternoon and referred the station to the meeting, which was scheduled for 7 p.m., where he'll lay out his plans.

Local church leaders, who got a whiff of what may be in store, are banding together in opposition. Not only did they say a potential strip club would objectify women, they told Eyewitness News it would bring down the community.

Eyewitness News caught up with a person who used to work in security at a strip club, and who agrees with the pastors.

"I realized how sleazy they were. I would not step foot in one," said Brock Dombroski, who used to work at a club. "It was a dark time in my life and I would not want go back, absolutely not."

But future patrons are eagerly hoping they'll be able to sample Windsor Locks' newest nightspot.

"I think it would be a good addition to the strip here, nothing else to do for people to do all night," said Jon D'Amato of Windsor Locks and added he would visit the establishment.

Windsor Locks officials told Eyewitness News they anticipate taking a vote Monday night.
