A Monroe man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal car crash in Shelton last year that left one man dead.
James Steinmetz, 34, of Monroe, was the driver of the car in a crash involving a motorcycle and another motor vehicle at the driveway entrance to the Kelly Nick LLC and Mont's Mart on Leavenworth Road on July 8, 2012.
The driver of the motorcycle, who was identified as 30-year-old Adam Haydu of Monroe, sustained life-threatening injuries from the crash. He died about 22 days after the accident because of his injuries, according to police.
Steinmetz turned himself into police Tuesday and was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to yield while turning left.
He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 23.
