A man identified as a starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants was accused of touching a woman's breast in a sexual manner while she was on a gurney and waiting to be helped at a Las Vegas hospital, a police report revealed.
FOX5 obtained Thursday the Jan. 27 arrest report for Chad Gaudin, who was charged with open and gross lewdness following an incident at Desert Springs Hospital.
In the report released by Clark County Justice Court, police describe arriving at the hospital on a reported disturbance by a man who was being detained by security.
The victim in the report told police a man with a beard and a shaved head approached her while she was waiting to be seen. The woman told police, in the report, the man called her gorgeous and he proceeded to touch her face and then her breast.
Police were told, in the report, he needed to leave.
Two other witnesses, including an EMT worker and the victim's friend who was sitting with her, told police, in the report about Gaudin touching the woman.
"'I will take care of you, don't worry about them,'" the victim's friend stated the suspect saying in the report.
Police, in the report, made contact with the detained Gaudin, who, upon being asked why he was at the hospital, told police he did not know.
Police also observed, in the report, Gaudin appearing intoxicated with his slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and evident odor of alcohol.
Gaudin was booked into Clark County Detention Center. Gaudin faces a gross misdemeanor charge of open and gross lewdness, which carries a maximum sentence of one-year imprisonment and a $2,000 fine.
The charges came to light Wednesday via multiple media outlets.
Gaudin's lawyer, Dominic Gentile, issued a statement Wednesday, saying:
"Chad Gaudin was examined in the emergency room of a local hospital while experiencing symptoms believed to be related to acute renal failure due to a condition known as rhabdomyolysis. The symptoms included confusion, dehydration and loss of orientation and/or consciousness. Although he has been accused of improperly touching another hospital patient while on the premises that night, there are differing and exonerating versions of what occurred that have been reported by eyewitnesses."
Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday Gaudin will make his next scheduled start Friday against the San Diego Padres.
