Woman charged with arson after house fire in Killingly

KILLINGLY, CT (WFSB) -

State police have charged a Killingly woman with arson after investigators said she set a home on fire early Friday morning.

Smoke could be seen coming from a home on Putnam Pike just before 5 a.m. by neighbors, so they alerted authorities.

Firefighters rushed to the scene where they found a woman, who was later identified as 56-year-old Carol Lynn Holden, inside the bedroom.

Holden, who rents the home, was brought to a hospital after it was determined that she was not breathing. 

At the hospital, doctors determined that Holden had no injuries related to the fire.

After an investigation by state police, Holden was arrested and charges with second-degree arson, first-degree criminal damage of landlord's property and breach of peace.

Sheis being on $75,000 and is expected to be arraigned at Windham Superior Court on Monday.

The Attawaugan Fire Department received assistance from Dayville, Williamsville, Community and East Putnam fire departments.

The fire remains under investigation.
