KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -
Flames damaged or destroyed more than 20 vehicles at a KCK used car dealership Friday morning.
Officials believe the fire is suspicious and are working to determine for certain if an arsonist is to blame. Damage is estimated at about $85,000.
Because multiple vehicles caught fire and vandalism appears to have occurred, it looks suspicious, according to a spokesman for the KCK Police Department. Investigators are treating the case as an arson.
Firefighters were called to the Raceway Auto Group dealership at 6801 State Ave. at 5 a.m. Friday. Flames destroyed 19 vehicles. Two other vehicles saw damage and led to part of the building catching on fire.
Two vehicles on the lot had their doors left open. Other vehicles had their trunks open.
While battling the blaze, a firefighter suffered cuts to his hand from glass. He was checked out at the scene and is doing OK after getting stitches at an area hospital.
Police are reviewing surveillance video. The dealership was closed for a time Friday morning, but reopened Friday afternoon.
