HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

A 24-year-old woman is accused of hitting the ex-girlfriend of her current boyfriend with a motor vehicle in Hamden on Sunday morning.

An unidentified 46-year-old woman was riding her bicycle in the 1200 block of Dixwell Avenue around 11:30 a.m. when she was hit by a motor vehicle, police said.

The victim was hit by the motor vehicle "head on" at a high rate of speed, police said.

The motor vehicle, which was being driven by Jacita Candelario of Hamden, fled the scene with the "bicycle stuck to the undercarriage of her vehicle," according to investigators.

The bicyclist was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with neck, arm and back injuries. Her injuries are non-life-threatening, according to police.

Within a short time, officers found a motor vehicle with a flat tire, which was believed to be involved in the crash.

Inside the vehicle was Candelario, her 6-year-old daughter and her boyfriend, who used to date the victim.

Candelario was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief and risk of injury to a minor.

She is being held on $5,000 bond and is expected to arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on July 29.
