Hartford police have identified the 63-year-old man who was pulled from the pond at Bushnell Park Tuesday night.
Hartford police have spent the day trying to figure out how the body of the man, identified as Ben Melendez, ended up in the pond.
Police said Melendez was located face down in the water along the rock skirt wall of the pond by two people in the area.
Officers performed CPR on Melendez, and he was rushed to Hartford Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives investigating the death have labeled it as suspicious at this time, as his cause of death could not be immediately determined. Officials said they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Officials are asking residents and business owners in the area who may have video surveillance of the Bushnell Park pond to call police.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Melendez's body on Thursday.
