Molotov cocktails thrown at Buena Vista store

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Somebody threw two Molotov cocktails at a convenience store in north Nashville early Friday morning to try to set it on fire.

The improvised explosives were tossed at a discount tobacco center on Jenkins Street in Buena Vista just after 1 a.m.

One of the explosives hit a car, landed in the parking lot and burned out. The second hit the business but didn't ignite.

Police said if they had ignited, the situation could have been completely different.

"It's very serious. It's a dangerous device. There were people in the store. That's why we have our investigators out here taking this very seriously," said Metro police Capt. Kenneth Walburn.

Metro police said they're looking for a person of interest who was drunk and inside the store earlier.

Police don't have anyone in custody. No one was hurt, and there was no major damage.
