Access Health CT's board of directors is expected to discuss proposed rates for the insurance plans to be offered on the state's new health insurance exchange.
The board is scheduled to hear Tuesday from a consulting firm that analyzed rates submitted for individual and small group plans. Enrollment in those plans is expected to begin Oct. 1.
A new, nonprofit insurer, HealthyCT, recently notified the Department of Insurance it was lowering its proposed rates.
The agency has until Wednesday to approve, reject or modify plans proposed for the new health exchange.
Access Health CT CEO Kevin Counihan said the exchange was "delighted" with news of HealthyCT's proposed rate decrease, as well as the refinements made by other insurance carriers planning to participate in the state's new insurance marketplace.
