Investigators return to Bristol lake for second day

BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) -
The State Police Dive Team searched a local lake for the second day in a row to find evidence in the murder case involving Aaron Hernandez.
The five-man dive team, which was acting on a tip, searched Pine Lake on Tuesday, which is 2 miles away from the home owned by Aaron Hernandez's uncle, for the murder weapon used in the death of Odin Lloyd.
The dive team members wore scuba gear and searched the 54-acre pond using metal detectors, two-way communication and ropes.
Bristol detectives said they received a tip that the gun used in the crime could be somewhere in the lake.
Hernandez, who is a Bristol native, pleaded not guilty to murder, but Massachusetts police said he orchestrated the death of Lloyd, who was killed in June.
Lloyd's body was found in June not far from Hernandez's Massachusetts home,
Police have still not been able to find the .45-caliber Glock used to kill Lloyd.
Divers spent several hours searching the murky waters Monday and drew a crowd of onlookers throughout the day Tuesday.
"I don't know what to make of it," said local resident Todd Cassile. "If he's innocent, innocent, if guilty, I hope they get what they're looking for, so the family can have some closure."
According to investigators, Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace, two men facing charges also in connection to Lloyd's death, returned to Hernandez's uncle's Bristol home one day later after the murder.
The same home has been searched three times. During the search, one warrant revealed an SUV, sought in connection to a double homicide in Boston, was rented in Hernandez's name.
"It seems to be there is evidence there," said local resident Glen Nelson. "But you never know. It's sad."
Police said the search could take several more days.
