A 13-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest Monday night and police said he was just trying to defend his grandmother.
Police said 60-year-old Harold Ransom pushed the boy's grandmother, so he rushed to her aide.
Ransom allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the 13-year-old.
The trouble started around midnight near a large gathering in the Cayce Place neighborhood, a public housing development in East Nashville.
The teen is expected to recover from his wound.
According to police, Ransom has been arrested more than 60 times. Charges against Ransom last night included aggravated assault, multiple drug and alcohol-related offenses, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing. He is not a residence of Cayce Place.
