Officials from Big Y World Class Market have notified customers of a voluntary beef recall from one of their suppliers.
The National Beef Packing Company, LLC, issued the voluntary recall on beef products produced in the same facility as Big Y's ground sirloin.
Big Y officials said that because the beef samples tested positive for E. coli and the Big Y product was produced in the same plant, market officials also issued the voluntary recall all fresh ground sirloin labeled as fresh ground sirloin 87 percent lean or sirloin steak patties 87 percent lean.
The beef was sold between July 18 and Thursday morning, even though none of Big Y's product tested positive.
Big Y officials said the recall does not affect any other ground beef items sold at the store other than the ground sirloin, and keeping the well-being of their customers in mind they have been urged to check freezers and refrigerators for the product.
The following products fall under the voluntary recall:
2-03359-00000 NATURAL SIRLOIN STEAK PATTY
2-03680-00000 ANGUS SIRLOIN PATTY 90%
2-03681-00000 NATURAL GROUND SIRLOIN 87%
2-03761-00000 NATURAL GROUND SIRLOIN 87%
2-10995-00000 NATURAL GROUND SIRLOIN 87% VALUE PACK
2-10996-00000 NATURAL GROUND SIRLOIN 87% VALUE PACK
Big Y officials said if any customers have the beef, you can return it to the store for a full refund.
