Separate shootings leave 1 dead, 3 injured in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT (AP) -

Separate shootings in New Haven Sunday left one person dead and three injured, one in critical condition.

New Haven police say Torrance Hawkins of Waterbury was shot and killed at the Cheetah Club just before 1:30 a.m. while celebrating his 22nd birthday.

They tell the New Haven Register an 18-year-old man was shot in the thigh just before 2 a.m. while sitting on a utility box on Hamilton Street.

Just before 5 p.m., police say a 41-year-old man was shot in the cheek during a confrontation near the intersection of Dixwell Ave. and Henry St.

The last shooting occurred at about 6 p.m. when a 23-year-old man was shot and critically wounded while handing out flyers on Ivy Street.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
