An attic fire at a Mesa apartment building required additional firefighting units when it was bumped to second-alarm status Monday morning.

Mesa Fire Capt. Dean Morales said there was heavy fire in the attic of the three-story building at 400 S. Dobson Road, near Broadway Road about 7:20 a.m.

An undetermined number of residents in surrounding apartments were evacuated. No injuries were reported, Morales said.
