AZ woman named best hospitality worker in US

Liv Fierro Liv Fierro

A young woman is helping to make a better Arizona by lifting the spirits of everyone around her.

Liv Fierro was named the No. 1 hospitality worker in the country.

Fierro works at the front desk at the Four Seasons resort in Scottsdale where she just got promoted to a supervisor position.

She's been at the resort for two years, working her way up from serving drinks to guests at the pool.

Fierro was nominated by her coworkers and put up for the best hospitality employee in the state.

"I really couldn't believe I had won and that was crazy," Fierro said.

A few months later, Fierro won the national honor of best hospitality worker in the country.

Former guests wrote letters to resort management about Fierro. She didn't just make their stay more comfortable, she lifted their spirits after deaths in their families.

"Something like that you can't change it, you can't fix it, so what can I do to take their mind off of it for a minute," Fierro said.

"Liv is just, her natural ability to connect with our guests on a personal level and take it one step further and leave here feeling like they're family," said Ben Shank from the Four Seasons.

Fierro said she draws inspiration from her favorite quote, "You haven't lived until you've helped someone's life and they can't repay you."

Fierro graduated from ASU in 2010. She came to Arizona from Long Island where her family owns a pizza shop.

Her award is the first national award for the Four Seasons in Scottsdale.
