NEW LONDON, CT (AP) -

A state lawmaker says she's upset that the state-funded Amistad schooner is sailing to Puerto Rico for the filming of a TV miniseries during hurricane season.

The Amistad is the state's official flag ship and tall ship ambassador. It's run by a private group that has received about $8 million in state money over the years.

North Stonington state Rep. Diana Urban told The Day of New London (http://bit.ly/19vaXh6 ) that she was assured by a state economic development official that the Amistad wouldn't go to Puerto Rico until after hurricane season ends in November. She's worried about the risk to the ship.

Amistad and state officials say the vessel left New Haven on July 30 because of the filming schedule for the NBC miniseries about the pirate Blackbeard.
