It was a job swap Friday night for some Western Mass police officers as they participated in a fundraiser for the Special Olympics.
Officers from the Ware, West Springfield, Ludlow and Middleton Police Departments along with the Hampden County Sheriff's Department took part in the "Tip-A-Cop" fundraiser.
The officers assisted wait staff at four restaurants in Springfield: Max's Tavern, Uno's Chicago Grill and Samuel's Sports Bar hosted the event.
All "tips" collected by the officers will be donated to the Special Olympics.
"It's a fun way to give back to our community by law enforcement," said West Springfield officer Erica Ireland.
"Everyone wants to be involved. It's a nice thing for the Hall of Fame, a nice thing for Max's Tavern and the kids get to benefit from Tip-A-Cop," said Max's Tavern manager, John Thomas.
The fundraiser will continue Saturday from 4pm-10pm.
