Civil Rights Memorial Center to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

The Civil Rights Memorial Center (CRMC) will offer free admission TODAY, Wednesday, Aug. 28, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. 

 

A video of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech will be screened multiple times in the Mike Stoller & Corky Hale Stoller Civil Rights Memorial Theater from noon to 1:40 p.m. The CRMC will ring a bell outside the memorial at 2 p.m. as part of the "Let Freedom Ring" movement, a national initiative by The King Center and the 50th Anniversary Coalition to mark King's delivery of the historic speech. The Civil Rights Memorial includes the names of 40 men, women and children slain during the civil rights movement. The memorial, designed by Vietnam Veterans Memorial designer Maya Lin, was dedicated in 1989.
