The father of Sandy Parsons has reported a break in at his China Grove home. That home is on the same property that was searched by investigators last week.
Sandy Parsons is the adoptive father of missing 15-year-old Erica Parsons.
According to the report, William Steven Parsons and his son, William Steven Parsons, Jr., reported finding damage to a basement door.
A deputy who responded to the call noted "I could tell there had been bodily force used to open the door." The deputy also noted a portion of the wood around the door lock was broken and lying on the floor and that there was a small dent in the door.
Damage to the door was estimated at $400.
A neighbor told deputies he had seen and older white work truck in the area. The neighbor didn't think it was unusual since the Parsons had been having work done to remodel their basement.
Last week, investigators working on the Erica Parsons disappearance searched a red shed on the property of the Sutton Road home and recovered items, including a hammer, teeth, school records, and parts of a vacuum.
That shed was used for storage by Sandy Parsons.
Investigators told WBTV Thursday morning that at this point, they don't believe there is any connection between the break in and the Parsons case.
