A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Smoker's Club in Torrington earlier this month and admitted to another one at the same store in June, police said.
According to police, a man entered the store on Main Street on the night of Aug. 8 and pointed a pistol at the female store clerk.
The man, who was later identified as Thomas H. Tanner, of Torrington, demanded money from her and then fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
After video surveillance pictures were released to the media, Tanner was identified as the suspect by adult probation officers.
Tanner appeared at Bantam Superior Court Friday morning for a first-degree robbery charge from an incident on Aug. 9. He was arrested there and charged in connection with the Aug. 8 robbery.
Police said Tanner confessed to another robbery at Smoker's Club on June 5 where a suspect held up the store at knifepoint.
