Police identified man shot, killed in Hartford

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police released the name of the man that was shot and killed in a quiet residential neighborhood in Hartford early Sunday morning.

Officers received multiple calls about a double shooting in the area of 16 Durham St. around 2:30 a.m.

Melvin Perry, 30, from Manchester was found dead after being shot twice, police said. Perry has been previously arrested by Hartford police five times.

A 34-year-old woman from Hartford was shot twice and taken to St. Francis Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are not releasing her name at this time for safety purposes.

Eyewitness News has exclusively learned that Perry and the woman were shot after coming back when a night out in the city when they were confronted by the suspect outside her home.

Police said the shooting is not believed to be random and shooting remains under investigation by the Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division.
