The South Windsor Police Department arrested a man they said choked his 5-year-old neighbor because he was playing too close to his trailer.
On Friday police were sent to a mobile home on Main Street to check on the child. The unidentified child had marks on his neck that police determined came from his neighbor.
After questioning a bunch of neighbors, officers believe they got to the bottom of the matter with Joseph Krempasky, 50.
"He had been drinking a little bit and changed his story several times," said police Sgt. Scott Custer. "But did ultimately tell the officers that he had grabbed the child by the neck because he was near an unlit propane grill outside."
Police arrested Krempasky and charged him with breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor.
The child suffered non-life-threatening injures, police said.
Krempasky was released on bond and was expected to appear in court Sept. 12.
Eyewitness News stopped by the home of Krempasky, but no one answered the door.
