EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

East Hartford police spent several hours attempting to get a man out of his home Wednesday night.

Police said they were called to the home at 136 Winding Lane after the man living there begun acting erratic.

The man barricaded himself in the home when officers arrived and told them the home was rigged with explosives.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News the man attempted to light a propane tank on fire before police were able to take him into custody.

The bomb squad was called in to search the home for explosives, but none were found.

The man, who has not been identified by police at this time, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries and a mental evaluation, police said.

Police said at this time no charges have been filed.
