A Springfield city councilor was recognized for his hard work in the Sixteen Acres neighborhood on Thursday.
Officials renamed the Greenleaf Community Center in honor of Clodo Concepcion.
Residents asked city officials change the name of the center in honor of Concepcion because of his work in the neighborhood.
City officials and residents gathered on Parker Street to observe the long-time civic leader's dedication.
Concepcion said he was honored by the event.
"I'm a community guy and what they did for me makes me very humble. This happens once in a lifetime and I will continue to work for the city. I have been doing it since I came here and I plan to continue to do that," said Concepcion.
Mayor Domenic Sarno said Concepcion has been a true friend to all the residents of Sixteen Acres.
