Pedestrian hit by car near VA Hospital in West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A 69-year-old man was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street on the campus of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Haven Monday afternoon.

The unidentified pedestrian was reportedly hit in the crosswalk to the patient parking lot, which is located in the 900 block of Campbell Avenue, just before 12 p.m., police said. 

The pedestrian was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital by ambulance with "serious injuries," police said.

The name of the pedestrian was not released, however police said no VA employees were involved in the crash.

No road closures were reported in the area, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the West Haven police traffic division. The driver and witnesses were questioned by police and no charges have been filed at this time.
