A small music store in Murfreesboro has suffered a big blow as a thief made off with more than $50,000 in cash and checks.
Music Stop owner Alan Haynes said the robber worked quickly during the busy lunch hour Monday and seemingly knew just where the money was kept.
"He just stepped in, around and hit the door," Haynes said.
The thief walked out with cash and checks from four days of sales.
"Very, very quickly - he was able to get the bags and hit the door," Haynes said.
Haynes said he was unable to get to the bank over the weekend, and it was highly unusual for him to keep that much cash in the store.
"This was a very brazen theft. He went into a business during the busiest time of day," said Murfreesboro police spokesman Sgt. Kyle Evans.
Since the robber ran out the store into the busy Murfreesboro square, police are hoping a witness can give them a description.
"We firmly believe someone has information and will give us that information to help us put this guy behind bars," Evans said.
The Murfreesboro Police Department is just a few blocks from the store, so officers were able to arrive quickly, but the thief seemed to disappear quickly into the lunchtime crowd.
