VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

The Vernon Police Department is investigating an armed robbery early Saturday morning.

A man entered the Xtra Mart, located at 1302 Hartford Turnpike, and demanded money from the clerk, police said. The suspect implied that he had weapon, but none was never displayed.

The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

The clerk, who was the only person in the store at the time, was not seriously injured, police said.

Police searched the surrounding area with a K-9, but the suspect was not located. No arrests have been made at this time.

The suspect had a red bandanna over his nose and mouth and was wearing a red Adidas sweatshirt with black stripes on the sleeves, black pants and green Boston Celtics hat.

On Monday, police released surveillance pictures of the suspect.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call the Vernon Police Department at 860-872-9126. All calls will remain anonymous.
