Water service back to normal in Groton

Posted: Updated:
GROTON, CT (WFSB) -

Groton Public Utilities worked tirelessly Saturday morning to repair a water main break that has been causing problems since Wednesday.

Route 1 in Groton has been closed on and off since the break Wednesday morning but now is completely open and fixed.

Crews worked for 14 hours today replacing five valves and 20 fittings along a stretch of Poquonnock Road.

At one point during the water main break eight restaurants were without service.

While some utility crews repaired the problem, others canvassed commercial and residential customers testing the tap water. Tests revealed the water quality was safe.
