ROSEMONT, Ill., Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Foundation for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (FPM&R) and Aspen Medical Products are proud to announce a partnership in the development of a new research grant. The Aspen Medical Products Spinal Bracing Research Grant provides $10,000 for research on the use of spinal bracing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, with special consideration given to outcomes research. Applications are being accepted through November 02, 2013. The FPM&R Awards and Grants Review Committee will independently score all proposals and recommend a winner to the FPM&R Board of Directors. The award will be presented at the 2014 Association of Academic Physiatrists Annual Meeting next February in Nashville.
Phyllis Anderson, MA, Executive Director of the FPM&R stated: "The Foundation currently receives six to eight times as many applications each year as we have grants available, and many of those unfunded projects have clear merit in improving treatment for spine patients. With financial support from Aspen Medical Products, we can provide resources that clinicians and scientific researchers need to initiate projects that result in clinical interventions for spine injury or disease, and achieve a better quality of life for millions of Americans."
"In keeping with Aspen's longstanding commitment to spinal bracing research, we are extremely pleased to partner with FPM&R in offering this research grant," states Geof Garth, Executive Vice President of R&D and Clinical Research, Aspen Medical Products. "Our goal in funding this grant is to further advance the science of spinal bracing and ultimately to improve patient care."
