A driver is killed in a fiery crash on General Screven Way in Hinesville.
HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -
Authorities have released the name of a driver who was killed in a fiery crash in Hinesville over the weekend.
Police say Malachi Jackson was driving one of four cars in the crash on General Screven Way at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday near Stafford Street. Eight people were injured.
Witnesses told police that a car went to pass two vehicles and when they tried to cross back into the lane, the driver lost control and hit two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.
The crash caused one of the vehicles to catch fire. One driver was trapped and rescue crews had to use the Jaws of Life to pull him from the wreckage. The man was rushed to an area hospital and from there he was transferred to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah where he died from his injuries.
Police are still interviewing witnesses and passengers to figure out what happened.
