NORTHFIELD, Mass. (AP) - What started as an investigation into reports of a teen throwing something from a car window ended in a major drug bust in Northfield.
Police pulled over a vehicle on Tuesday after another motorist complained that something thrown from it almost struck their car.
Chief Robert Leighton says as he approached the vehicle he detected an odor of unburned marijuana.
When he opened the trunk of the vehicle, he found enough freshly harvested marijuana plants to fill four large trash bags.
Leighton tells The Recorder of Greenfield (http://bit.ly/15VW4EG ) he is pursuing charges against the three minors in the vehicle, who are all from the area.
He says the investigation is ongoing and more people would face charges.
