The driver of a concrete truck suffered minor injuries after a rollover that forced the closure of the eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway at Country Club Drive in Mesa.
The truck rolled near the median in a crash that also involved an SUV that struck a concrete wall and a third vehicle, though not damaged, possibly caused the crash, said Raul Garcia of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The truck driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution, Garcia said, and the driver of the SUV was treated at the scene.
The crash about 7 a.m. forced the detour of eastbound freeway traffic at the Country Club exit ramp, but motorists were able to get back on the Loop 202 at the Country Club freeway on-ramp, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The westbound lanes remained open.
The Loop 202 lanes were closed through the morning rush hour and until the vehicles were righted and cleared from the freeway. It reopened about 10:15 a.m., Garcia said.
It was the second concrete truck crash of the morning on a Mesa freeway.
About 6 a.m., a cement truck rolled on westbound U.S. Highway 60 near the Loop 202 transition in Mesa, causing backups at the Ellsworth Road exit. Traffic was moving, albeit slowly, shortly after.
