ELLINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

The Connecticut State Police are searching for the man who allegedly robbed a convenience store in Ellington at gunpoint early Sunday morning.

An unidentified man, who was wearing a white bandana that covered his face and a hooded sweatshirt, entered the Ali Food Mart, which is located in the area of Route 83 and West Street, just before 1 a.m., police said.

Police said the man demanded money from the store clerk after "brandishing a large black handgun."

The suspect fled on foot from the Ali Food Mart with an undisclosed amount of money.

Upon arrival, state police searched the area with a K-9, but did not locate the suspect.

No injuries were reported during the robbery.

The armed robbery is under investigation by Connecticut State Police. Anyone with any information is asked to call state police at 860-896-3200. All calls will remain anonymous.
