The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that Flatbush Avenue in West Hartford and Hartford will be closed for 21 days starting Tuesday for a construction project.
DOT officials said Flatbush Avenue would be closed at the intersection with New Park Avenue. More specifically, officials said, Flatbush Avenue would be closed east of New Park Avenue to Newfield Avenue and west of New Park Avenue to Ahern Street.
However, New Park Avenue will remain open throughout the construction project.
DOT officials said that people driving on New Park Avenue wanting access to the Interstate 84 Flatbush Avenue entrance ramp or the Charter Oak Plaza will be forced to take a detour onto New Britain Avenue, then along Newfield Street.
The closure of Flatbush Avenue between New Park Avenue and Newfield Avenue on the Hartford/West Hartford line is required in order to complete the new Flatbush Avenue Bridge over the Amtrak rail line and the new CTFastTrack busway.
