A lawyer representing the estate of a boy who drowned at a city beach in New London was himself sued by the family of a man who drowned at a pool in 1999.
Jason M. Burdick is the lawyer for the estate of Anthony Bernoudy, a 6-year-old boy who drowned on July 4. The estate is considering a lawsuit against the city.
The Day of New London reports that Burdick was one of two lifeguards on duty at a New London pool in 1999 when a 23-year-old man drowned. The man's family sued Burdick, the other lifeguard, the city and the company that managed the city-owned park.
A confidentiality clause was part of the legal settlement.
By representing Bernoudy's family, he said he hopes to make changes preventing deaths in the future.
