A 65-pound loggerhead sea turtle was released at Folly Beach on Thursday after receiving treatment at the South Carolina Aquarium.
The sea turtle, named "Pluff", returned to the ocean during a ceremony at Folly Beach County Park.
Pluff underwent treatment through the SC Aquarium Sea Turtle Rescue Program after being found stranded in the marsh on Hilton Head Island in June of this year.
Tests uncovered Pluff suffered from extremely low blood protein and a low level of red blood cells.
After undergoing vitamin injections, fluid therapy, and receiving antibiotics, officials say Pluff is ready to return to the Atlantic.
This event was open to the public.
