A man who was shot by police in New Britain after leading them on a wild chase is now facing charges.
On Tuesday, police said Jose Torres, 33, of New Britain was randomly fired shots outside an apartment on Glen Street.
No injuries were reported in that shooting.
Torres, according to police, fled the scene and triggered a massive chase.
Police said Torres ended up crashing his vehicle on Corbin Avenue and taking off on foot, running through backyards.
Police pursued him for several blocks, and eventually, four officers found him at 350 Lincoln St.
Officials with New Britain Schools said Slade Middle School, Lincoln Elementary School and Vance Village Elementary School were locked down for 45 minutes while police were in the area.
Torres was arrested by state police on Thursday, while he was at an area hospital recovering from a gunshot wound. Torres remains at the hospital under police guard.
He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of firearm, interfering with police and carrying pistol without a permit.
The incident remains under investigation by state police.
