Flyover open following morning crash

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police said the Interstate 91 flyover from Interstate 84 in Hartford has reopened following a mid-morning crash.

According to police, the crash was reported at 8:45 a.m. on the ramp, which connects Interstate 84 east to Interstate 91 north. The truck and trailer collided with a jersey barrier and was in fear of falling on Interstate 91 north. Police closed two lanes as light poles fro the flyover also fell on the roadway below.

Police notified Rentschler Field and Hartford Marathon command staff of the "significant traffic issue," and police are working to clear the accident as soon as possible.

Police cleared the light poles and reopened Interstate 91 north, however motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time or avoid the area due to the significant traffic expected with both the marathon and UConn football game this afternoon.

According to police, the accident has closed exit 51 from I-84 eastbound. Two lanes are also closed on I-91 northbound in the area.

No injuries were reported.
