MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
Jenna Naylor is recovering from a brain aneurysm she suffered two months ago.
The teen had to have her head shaved, so to help brighten her spirit, her sister, Carmyn Gillmore has shaved half of her head so that Jenna wouldn't feel alone.
In October, CBS 5 News spoke with Cheyenne Mefford who broke down while talking about her best friend, Jenna. It was the morning after a sleepover, when Jenna fell ill.
"She went into the bathroom and she just collapsed," Cheyenne said.
What started out as a simple headache ended with Jenna collapsing on the bathroom floor with a brain aneurysm.
It left her in a coma in a hospital bed, with her family and friends keeping constant vigil by her side.
"You know, I still think every night that I'm going to wake up and everything is going to be back to normal," said Jenna's mother, Tamara Naylor.
Her mother wants everyone to remember Jenna how she was before: an outgoing, athletic, healthy young teen.
"Jenna was my one child that never got a cold. Never a broken bone. Never a sprained ankle. Nothing," Tamara Naylor said.
Her mother said she's is making progress every day and has since been able to return home.
"It's a simple thing of one step forward, 10 steps back. What we're learning right now is it's not 10 steps back. Now it's nine and I have faith that it will be eight, then it will be seven, and we'll just slowly get there," Tamara Naylor said.
