The Arizona Department of Transportation's renovation of highway rest areas across the state will continue with planned work on the Salt River Canyon rest area on U.S. 60 between Globe and Show Low in east-central Arizona.
The Salt River Canyon rest area has been closed for several years but the department says it now has money to pay for new water pumps, structural repairs and upgraded toilets.
The department says the project is now in the design phase and that on-site construction should start next summer.
Work is also planned next year on the Burnt Well and Ehrenberg rest areas on Interstate 10 10 west of Phoenix.
Previous restorations included Sunset Point on Interstate 17 north of Phoenix and Bouse Wash on I-10 west of Phoenix.
