MT. JULIET, TN (WSMV) -

Two men are in custody after they allegedly burglarized a Mt. Juliet construction site before crashing a truck into a home in their attempt to flee the scene Wednesday.

Jason Goode, 39, of Mt. Juliet, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, felony vandalism, theft and driving on a revoked drivers license.

Christopher Guess, 22, of Portland, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

Investigators say the men were at the site of a home under construction in the 1000 Block of Carriage Trail, off Nonaville Road, when a neighbor spooked them, so they tried to speed away in a pickup truck.

The truck then struck a woman's home while she was inside, but she was not injured.

The collision punched a hole through a wall of the woman's home, and in the process of leaving, the truck also hit two mailboxes and a fire hydrant.

Officials determined the woman's home was not structurally sound, so Mt. Juliet firefighters went above and beyond the call of duty to help install supports made the house safe for the homeowner until further repairs can be made.
